Project History
Bastille Linux was the most popular Linux system hardening program for roughly a decade, with hundreds of thousands of users. With an open source community led by Jay Beale and Jon Lasser, this tool ran on Red Hat, SUSE, Debian, Gentoo and Mandrake/Mandriva Linux, as well as Mac OS X and Hewlett Packard's HP-UX. It shipped as a built-in part of the operating system on both Mandrake Linux and HP-UX. While Jay Beale led the Bastille Linux's development, IBM, Hewlett Packard, and the US Navy contributed developers .
